Problem: I have a number of theses little readers, i have had a recurrent problem with 2 of them now. This is what has happens:-
Upon an irregular action such as system crash or inappropriate ejection of the device, we all know that this can corrupt the data stored on the card contained in the device, my issue has been that twice now with 2 separate devices after such an event, (or something similar, im not exactly sure what event has caused this to happen), i have not been able to acces the data stored after, or the data on any other card subsequently inserted into the device, in other words the reader cannot find data on the card and when you click on the device in 'Computer' it will say something like 'Please insert disk into removeable disk E', or 'Cannot find sector, do you want to format the disk'.
I have subsequently found that the data on the actual card is not adversely affected and taking the card out and attempting to read it with another reader the data is pefectly accessible, so, this issue is one affecting the reader and not the data on the card.
So i now have 3 of these, 2 of them are do not work as described above and the other is fuctioning normally, until it experiences the same type of critical failure.
My question is obviously how can we return the devis to correct functioning, or first of all, what has happened to the device?
If you have a problem and the laptop accessory is under a year old, contact your retailer to arrange a repair or replacement. Under the Sale of Goods Act, you should be covered for at least a year and maybe longer.
